This morning the team went to church at Vizag Christian Assembly which is located right in the middle of Visakhapatnam where we are staying. They have a vision to build, reach, and love the people of this city by spreading the gospel and building up God's people. Our team went to worship with the people and to serve them through sharing, encouraging, and praying over the people.
Randy preached an awesome message from 2 Corinthians 5 and focused on the word reconciliation. He told them, "no other religious system in this world can bring reconciliation to God but Jesus Christ." You can see that the western church has influenced the culture of this church and this necessarily isn't a good thing. Randy challenged them by reminding them that preaching is not just about what happens on a Sunday gathering. People think it's about one man preaching and a bunch of people listening but it is about bringing the gospel to where it is missing and Randy challenged the people to preach to their neighbors, coworkers, and friends. How does one gain a voice to preach? Is it through praying, studying, or fasting more? The apostle Paul says in Corinthians that the love of God should compel us to preach and this voice is nothing we earn but its something we receive through grace.
At the end of the service the team had the opportunity to pray and minister to the people. Dozens of people came forward to be prayed over and to become ambassadors of Christ. I had the blessing of praying with a local teenager named Stephen who wanted prayer. He wanted me to pray that God would continue to ignite a passion for studying God's word and that he would be bold in his work place. There is nothing like serving through laying your hands on someone and asking God to move in their life. This was an amazing opportunity that the team is still talking about.
